Tired of the same plastic, commoditized, throw-away PCs from the multi-nationals? These computers are loaded with bloatware, making your PC an in-house billboard for advertising. Furthermore, support for these systems typically come from outsourced call centers located oversees with operators reading from a script. Scary, huh?
At MAINGEAR, we build hand-crafted, custom built PCs for just about anybody. If you're looking for quality, reliability and a solid company focused on customer service, you need a custom built computer from MAINGEAR. No matter what your budget or your need, we can build a custom PC tailored to your specific needs.
It can be daunting trying to find a custom built PC - there are lot of components that you need to decide upon. The good news is MAINGEAR can make the process very easy, and it's all based upon what kind of user you are.

We get this a lot - people looking for a quality PC that will last a long time and be supported by the best technical support team in the business. For customers like these, they may want to use a PC for basic email, photos and social networks like Facebook. However, they may want to get involved with other applications that require a bit more horsepower like video editing. So what kind of hardware do we recommend for these users? Here are a few core components and our recommendations that can make the most difference in price and performance:
Thoughts on the CPU choice for your custom built computer:
• If you're not flat out looking for the fastest custom built PC, regardless of your needs and without a budget limit, you can definitely save a few dollars by investing in a balanced configuration, which means not overspending on the CPU. If you're not going to be doing intensive video editing, consider an entry-level CPU from AMD or Intel.
• AMD's Athlon II X4 and lower-end Phenom II X4 processors are popular for those on a budget.
• Intel's Core i3 and i5 processors also bring tremendous performance for the dollar and are a good Intel alternative to these AMD processors for the price.
• Have a few more bucks to spend? Intel's Core i7 800 series processors on the P55 chipset are speedy and extremely popular in a MAINGEAR custom built computer
• The "best of the best" experience can be found with the Core i7 900 series on the X58 chipset.
But don't overload on the CPU just yet if you're working on a budget - there are considerations that may make more of an impact on your computing experience, like more memory or newer solid state hard drives.

In most cases for a customer looking for a reliable custom built computer for the home, it's not important to get a fast graphics card - even the most basic solutions will suffice. When configuring a custom built PC at MAINGEAR, we "tag" our graphics cards with five different categories: Value, Mainstream, Performance, Enthusiast, and Professional. In a case like this, a value or mainstream solution will be adequate. Leave the performance and enthusiast solutions to the gamers, and the professional cards to workstation-class uses like computer aided drafting and 3D graphics creation. Because all of our solutions are DirectX 10+ compatible, they are utilized by certain software applications to accelerate video transcoding, editing and photo manipulation.

Your computer's hard drive is more than just a place to store digital stuff. It also has a tremendous impact on the responsiveness of your PC, as more often than not it's the slowest component in your computer. The good news is that a new type of hard drive technology is beginning to mature and reduce in price. Solid state hard drives have no moving hardware, are completely silent and run much cooler than mechanical hard drives with rotating platters. The only downside is they're more expensive. For the price of a high quality 128 or 256GB SSD, you could buy a premium 2TB hard drive. That's why our customers are buying more and more 80-128GB solid state drives as a primary OS and applications drive, and a 1TB+ mechanical drive as a secondary storage solution for their music, movies, and photos. It's a killer combination that puts a smile on peoples' faces when they try it out for the first time - it's really a shift in performance that must be experienced.

If you're still not surewhat custom built PC to get, don't hesitate to give us a call. None of us are on commission and more often than not we find ourselves helping people save money on their configurations by identifying their computing needs and recommending a custom built PC that will fit their budget. As custom PC builders, can offer that type of knowledge and insight because no matter who you talk to at MAINGEAR, we've all built PCs, and we're all computing enthusiasts.
We use these systems every day, and we build each one like we would for our friends and family. We often refer to ourselves as a customer service company that just happens to build high performance custom PCs,and award-winning ones that! Our custom computers win Editor's Choice awards at an astonishing rate and have the customer service record to prove it. MAINGEAR is an A+ Accredited Business, a strategic partner for major component companies and our team is committed to bringing you the ultimate in custom built computers.

Memory is an important and often overlooked component in a custom built PC. In today's computing environment, a custom computer with less than 2GB is unheard of, and less than 4GB is less than desirable. For everyone except those on an extremely tight budget, we highly recommend 4GB+ of memory with a custom built PC. It's better to upgrade to 4GB of RAM before you upgrade to a faster CPU. Also, for most consumers, quantity is better than speed. We offer some faster frequency memory that is utilized best when we do our performance enhancements for speed-freaks and benchmark junkies, but for every day computer users, the difference can only be felt in the wallet.

At MAINGEAR we build each and every system as if we were building them for friends and family. We take tremendous pride in the the care we give our custom computers and gaming PCs. Each system is hand-built from the ground up by a qualified technician who carefully routes every wire, giving the system a clean, professional look. Then each custom computer is burned-in with our proven and vigorous hardware tests, ensuring your PC is going to be up to whatever task you put to it. Because no matter what you need your PC to do, it will never be as stressed as it is during our burn-in session at the factory.
Your gaming PC will be integrated with the finest brands on the market. The components we use have been hand-picked by us for their features, performance, and reliability. We do not sacrifice quality for price. We have tested our components for maximum performance and compatibility. Some companies throw a bunch of parts in an on-line configurator and trust you've done your homework as to which parts work best. Then they do research and development on your dime after you bought your PC. We do all the work up front so you don't have to. And we've got the track record to prove it.

Each of our customers are important to us, and we treat them like family. This means that from the first time you speak with us, we're committed to delivering the best experience you can get from a PC. We're not on commission so if we help you configure your gaming computer we'll be working with you to build the best experience you can get for your money. And we'll spend as much time doing it as you need to feel comfortable. Even better, you have access to anyone at MAINGEAR. From the technicians who build your PC, to the engineers who test and validate our configurations, and even our executive management team, you can speak to someone at MAINGEAR who will be able to professionally address your concerns.
We think of ourselves as a customer service company that just happens to build the fastest, most wicked gaming computers and custom PCs on the market.

What's bloatware? Well, CTO Chris Morley has a lot to say about that subject. It's the practice of loading up your computer with 3rd party software, often crippled trial versions, that bog your PC down and keep it from running at its full potential. If you've owned a PC from a multi-national Tier 1 you know what we're talking about. It's the reason your system takes so long to boot up. It's why you have weird software incompatibility problems. But what you might not know is that those companies are making money on pre-installing that software! We think that billboards are a better place for advertising, not your PC's desktop.

MAINGEAR is a very transparent company. We have invested a lot of time and energy into interacting directly with our customers through every possible social media avenue including Facebook, Twitter, Youtube, Vimeo, and more. But our crown jewel, so to speak, is our community forum. Here you can interact with not just MAINGEAR employees, including executives, but you can get personalized help on custom computer configurations from other MAINGEAR customers and fans as well. This collaboration has allowed us to continue to innovate the way we serve our customers and we invite you to join up and join the discussion. With member blogs, photo galleries, and a robust forum full of information and great people, the MAINGEAR community forum is a fantastic technical resource for fans and customers alike.
